We’ve landed some great new projects at Dark Blue and we’re looking for a web developer to help us build them! Someone passionate about their craft and eager to help create awesome digital experiences within our talented team, learn and develop their skill set and keep Dark Blue at the forefront of the industry.

Who we’re looking for

A driven full stack developer with good experience building websites and web applications. You’ll be someone who can perfectly translate a design to the front-end using modern web standards. You’ll have knowledge working on web applications, have an understanding of database management and be comfortable integrating with a range of 3rd party APIs. Finally, you’ll be eager to advance your skill set, curious about new web technologies and eager to jump on them if a project could benefit from it. Our projects are varied and we're always keen to stay ahead of the curve.

We need someone familiar with modern JavaScript frameworks like Vue and React (most of our work uses Nuxt) but also have experience with backend JavaScript and PHP.

What you’ll be working on

Becoming a key member of the development team, you’ll have ownership of the entire build cycle of your projects, but you’ll be involved much earlier, being a sounding board as the project goes through research and design.

The types of projects we take on are varied, covering brochure sites, e-commerce sites, web applications, and digital marketing campaigns. We could be involved with a highly visual, heavily animated campaign site one day, and a complex web application the next. We understand developers are always stronger in certain areas of the development spectrum and we won’t push you into projects you’re not comfortable with - we only take on projects that suit the skills of our team.

What you'll be joining

We’re a small digital agency, usually based out of a cosy studio in Shoreditch, London. When it’s safe, we’ll likely be returning 2 or 3 days per week. We’ve been slowly growing over the past 4 years and our team is currently made up of 3 developers, 2 designers and 1 project/operations manager.

We have awesome clients. Working with big companies like Deliveroo and Ocado, great agencies like JKR and Mindshare and exciting start-ups like Tide and Plenish. We don’t do any outward business development. All our work comes from word-of-mouth, referrals and repeat business which we’re quite proud of.

A healthy work/life balance is very important to us and we’ve crafted the agency around the lives we want to live. We have flexible working hours and budgets for employee health and wellbeing. Travel is encouraged (remember travel!?). Everyone gets plenty of holiday allowance, and we take team trips away together as often as possible.
